Meaning

This small section offers some insight into our values in the Sixth Form. If you are a part of the Sixth Form we ask you to subscribe to these. They will do you good.

Change your world

Is the possible? Think global, act local. We can certainly change our school if we are willing to change ourselves. If we change our school (for the better) we can change our community. If we change our community, we can influence Northamptonshire.

Corporate Social Responsibility

The Sixth Form is a community. As such we have a responsibility to each other. So why not aim high with the level of this responsibility? Lets aim to be excellent for the benefit of others. In doing so, we will benefit ourselves by creating and developing a caring community of excellence.

Why is this important? Well because at the end of the day, quality of life comes from quality of relationships. Let's respect, value and honur one another. In the world of Business, CSR is increasingly important. Think about the success of the Sundial Group and Highgate House locally and also think about what successful business have to say e.g. The Tribal Group.

We are what we do

Says a lot about thinking global and acting local to change our world. Have a look: We are what we do

The Importance of Character

"Uprightness and excellence of character cause a nation to become strong, but wrongdoing is a disgrace to any people"

King Solomon of Israel, (approx 900 BC) Proverbs 14:34

"First impressions are lasting impressions"

Have you ever thought about what is of the thing of greatest value that you possess? Actually it is who you are, your self. This means everyone is equally valuable, equally important.

At the end of the day, all of a persons achievements, qualifications, wealth and talents are unimportant compared to the value that can be placed on a person's life.

"What use is it for a man to gain the whole world, only to lose his true self?"

Jesus Christ, (approx 28 AD) Mark 8:36

"O you who believe, be upright for Allah, bearers of witness with justice; and do not let the hatred of a people incite you not to act with justice. Be just; that is nearer to observance of duty." (5:8)

The Prophet Mohammed (approx 590 AD)

Each of us communicates who we really are through our character. We can take nothing out of this world when we leave it, but we can all make a difference in the world around us...for good or for bad. People remember us by our character.

We can all determine to strive for excellence of character, to develop those characteristics that will benefit those around us the most. For example, we can choose to forgive, or to develop patience with those who don't deserve it.....however we will not be able to do this without personal cost to ourselves, because excellence of  character is always at the expense of self.

Make it your goal to develop excellence of character.
